May at Holiday Hills Resort
Campfires, Celebrations, and Memories That Will Last a Lifetime
There are some months that simply feel different. May at Holiday Hills Resort wasn't just the start of another camping season—it felt like the moment summer officially arrived.
A Mother's Day Weekend Filled with Smiles
One of the sweetest highlights of May was our Mother's Day Card Making activity, where children had the opportunity to create something truly special for the moms, grandmas, and mother figures in their lives.
The activity room was filled with colorful markers, stickers, creativity, and excitement as kids carefully designed handmade cards packed with heartfelt messages and artistic flair. Some cards featured bright drawings and sweet notes, while others showcased imaginative designs that only a child's creativity can bring to life.
The best part was watching the children proudly show off their creations, excited to surprise someone they love. There was something incredibly special about seeing their thoughtfulness shine through each card.
What made the weekend so memorable wasn't just the crafts themselves—it was the joy, enthusiasm, and love that the children poured into every creation. It was a simple but meaningful way to celebrate Mother's Day and create memories that families will cherish long after the weekend ended.
Bunco Night Became the Surprise Favorite
If there was one activity that completely stole the spotlight this month, it was Bunco Night.
What started as a fun social event quickly became one of the most talked-about activities at the resort.
Throughout the month, tables were filled with laughter, cheering, friendly competition, and plenty of stories shared between rolls of the dice.
Meet Mr. Koleidosscope: The Newest Creative Addition to HHR
This colorful new activity quickly captured the imagination of guests of all ages through our Rock Snake Painting project, turning simple rocks into lasting memories.
Families gathered together to paint colorful rocks, each one featuring a unique design, special message, favorite character, or artistic creation. Once completed, the rocks became part of a growing snake that now winds its way through the resort—a living work of art created entirely by our guests.
The idea is simple but meaningful. Every guest has the opportunity to contribute something unique while becoming part of a project that continues to grow throughout the season.
Children loved seeing their artwork become part of something bigger, while adults enjoyed sharing in the creativity and helping build a colorful tradition for future visitors to enjoy.
Every painted rock tells a story. Together, they create a vibrant reminder of the families, friendships, and memories that make Holiday Hills Resort such a special place.
Memorial Day Weekend Proved That a Little Rain Can't Stop the Fun
As May came to a close, Memorial Day Weekend arrived with a few rainy skies, but if there's one thing we've learned at Holiday Hills Resort, it's that a little rain never gets in the way of making memories.
Instead of slowing things down, guests embraced the weather and made the most of every moment. Kids splashed through puddles, laughed under the rain, and turned a gloomy forecast into part of the adventure.
Down at the dock, fishing rods were still out as guests gathered along the water, hoping to reel in the next big catch. Rain or shine, the dock remained a favorite spot for families and friends to spend time together while enjoying the peaceful views of Lake Barkley.
As the evening rolled in, the fun shifted to The Deck, where kids and adults came together for a glow dance party that lit up the night. Glow sticks, music, dancing, and plenty of smiles transformed the rainy day into one of the most memorable nights of the weekend.
Memorial Day Weekend reminded us that the best moments aren't always the ones we plan for. Sometimes they're the unexpected ones—sharing laughs in the rain, casting a line from the dock, and dancing the night away with friends old and new.
That's the kind of community spirit that makes Holiday Hills Resort so special and keeps families coming back year after year.
More Than a Resort—A Community
What made May special wasn't just the events.
It was seeing neighbors become friends at Bunco Night.
It was watching children proudly place their painted rocks onto the growing Rock Snake.
It was families celebrating Mother's Day together.
These moments are what transform a campground into a community and a vacation into a memory.
